Keeping Annual Bulbs

There are a few beautiful summer flowers that come from bulbs and tubers, but can not withstand the cold Nebraska winters underground.  Flowers like the Canna, Dahlia, and Gladiolus are not hardy bulbs.  They need to be dug up after they have died back from a frost, then dried in a shady spot and stored in dry peat moss at about 50-60* until spring.  Once the ground is workable and danger of frost has ended you can replant these bulbs and wait for their colorful blooms.g
