Benson Plant Rescue – What happens to the left overs?

Nurse: We have an oak with a severed limb in the OR!

Doctor: Give it 500 ccs of sap, STAT!

Nurse: We’ve got a rose coming in via ambulance that is covered in Japanese Beetles.

Doctor: Bypass triage and get that thing into quarantine as soon as it arrives!

Nurse (aside to camera): Just another day in the life of a worker at the Benson Plant Rescue.

While there are not actually doctors and nurses on staff at the Benson Plant Rescue, they do save the lives of plants.  As with most gardeners it is hard to see a decent plant go to waste, but it happens.  Here at Greenlife gardens we order hundreds of annuals and tropical plants every year for the seasonal arrangements we do across the Omaha metro area.  On occasion we have a surplus of one variety after all the containers have been filled.  Instead of just letting those beautiful plants finish their life inside a greenhouse where very few will see and enjoy them, we are beginning to donate them to the Benson plant rescue.  The rescue, located at 7224 Maple St., takes in donations of all sorts around the city and then resells or gives them to others who can use them. As a bonus, all proceeds go to the Benson Public Library so you are supporting a good cause to boot.  They are open from May to mid-October if you are looking for a frugal way to fill an extra space or container visit the Benson plant rescue.  You’ll never know what you might find!g
