Sometimes we see evergreen dies during a year when there is plenty of rain. For the average joe, this can be baffling. There seems to be plenty of water – so why would anything die?
Any time you have a problem with plants you must evaluate the entire plant and it’s environment. Here are some possible issues that could be happening to your evergreen:
1) Established evergreens do not like to sit in moist areas and will decline if kept wet constantly.
2) Disease can cause decline of any tree if hit hard enough and not addressed.
3) Winter-kill (when a dry/windy winter removes too much moisture from the needles) can show damage on the outside of the plant up to six months after damage has occurred beneath the barks surface.
