Serviceberry trees come in a clump form with multiple stems or in single stem, tree form. They come with three season interest and are small enough to fit into just about any landscape.
Serviceberry typically get 10-15 feet wide and 10-25 feet tall depending on the variety and location. They need part-shade to full sun, meaning at least 6 hours of sunlight daily. The prefer well drained soil without a lot of clay that can keep moist without being water logged. They bloom white in the spring and set edible berries in early summer. Fall finishes their show with golden hues of orange and red. There are 195 different varieties, most native to North America, some of which are shrubs only growing 5×5.
